Guest guest
Hi Barby, Yeah, it's not a big deal. At least it never was for me. They give you a sedative which knocks you out, it did me. They turn you on your side and put a tube down your throat, but you're out before they put it down your throat. They put this thing in your mouth first to hold your mouth open before you get knocked out, and then the tube goes down the throat. I probably don't explain it the best, but that's what I remember. Guest guest
There is a tube that has a camera in the tip. They will pass that down his esophegus and take a look at the lining to see if there are enlarged vessels (varices). If there are and they have enough pressure on them, they may band them. This will all be done while he is in a sort of twilight sleep. He may not be absolutely out, but he won't remember anything. At least that has always been my experience and Terry's has been the same. If he needs to know for sure if the thought of being awake is bothering him, call the doctor's office and ask them. I'm sure they will tell you. Praying for both of you! ________________________________ To: livercirrhosissupport Sent: Wednesday, December 17, 2008 6:15:00 PM Subject: bobby glenns scope hi gang can anyone tell b.g. what to expect with this scope for the bleeds? hes alittle worried what all they will be doing. i told him i think its just a tube they put down his throat, and he will probably be asleep ,am i correct?? thanks barby and bobby glenn
