Guest guest
Good Afternoon Lew, Filter that are a MERV 7 or 8 are typically used to keep HVAC systems components clean, i.e. Coils, blower, duct work, etc. As far as IAQ is concerned and air filtration efficiencies typically would be a MERV 13 although some have argued a MERV 11. I would suggest to you or anyone that when new or the latest technologies on air filtration are developed and marketed to the public that you would request an Independent Test report based on ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 52.2 to verify efficiency performance. We see TV commercials all the time touting these air filters and air cleaners as the “best” on the market today. Also you may want to consider why these products are Not used in a Cleanroom environment or a Hospital Surgery Suite? There are time tested and proven methods of effective air filtration available today…you may want to check out the National Air filtration Associations (NAFA) website at www.nafahq.org. They are a non-profit professional trade and certification organization. I hope this helps, Steve AIR INDUSTRIES, INC. North Andover, MA 01845 Office: Fax: Mobile: Dynamic / Electrostatic air filters Hi All: Just wondering if anyone is familiar with effectiveness of electrostatic filter banks. We have our return air being filtered by a bank of about 200 filter pads in electrostatic housings. Six of our 15 large Haakan rooftops have been fitted with these filter housings and electrostatic filters. The media is a composite of fiberglass type matting sandwiching a carbon filter media. The return air is being met by the filter bank and then goes through a heat wheel. After that, it goes to the mixing chamber where it either mixes with outside air or goes into the outside air via the economizer dampers. However, mostly the outside air dampers are open to exhaust 100%. Very little return air is mixed with supply air. Thanks for the replies in advance.
