My house is cool & drafty, except right next to the gas heater where it's too hot. Temp. is not consistent anywhere in the house. A while ago someone referenced a post having to do putting a lamp in a styrofoam box. I just searched the archives, couldn't find the original message. If someone has done this method successfully I'd appreciate hearing from you. (I've already bought the piima starter and want to use it!) Wouldn't it be nice if you could just buy a big box that could be set to any temp you want? Thanks, Daphne
Guest guest
Hi Daphne, I've use a proofing box for various things: kombucha tea, bread and yogurt. I got a large styrofoam cooler hung an incadescent bulb through a hole in the top (well it's actually the botton of the cooler turned upside down) and put a dimmer switch on the bulb--the kind that screws into the socket. With various wattages of bulbs and the dimmer switch I can hold the temperature steady at various temperature ranges. I monitor the temperature with a Polder thermometer--the kind with a wand--I stick this through another tiny hole in the cooler. Works great. I prop the cooler off the cabinet it sits on for air circulation too. -- -----Original Message----- From: Daphne [mailto:bayleafgirl@...] Sent: Wednesday, January 09, 2002 1:32 PM Subject: Piima temp. question Re: Piima cream and getting the temperature right (72-78).
