Guest guest
SARS and biological weapons will probably justify the human cell damge caused by releasing oxidzers into the air. It's better than being dead, right? Of course, the effectiveness need to be evaluated. Other than that, I don't see any reason that you need to breath sterile air in residential building. Hospital, maybe, I don't know how the risk and benefit will weigh out. Most of the infections are probably caused by direct contact not airborne. Put this in the context of their wording and draw your own conclusions. Anybody on the list know what Shaklee sold as a purifier or EccoQuest after 2004? From their website www.rgf.com 1986 RGF develops Advanced Oxidation Technologies by combining ozone gas with ultraviolet light and hydrogen peroxides. 1988 RGF converts their Advanced Oxidation Technology to Air Treatment System for treatment of mold, bacteria and odors. 2000 RGF signs a contract with Shaklee Corporation to develop a small, in-room air purification device and longterm engineering services. After one year of testing and validation, over $50 million retail were sold the first year. 2003 RGF Advanced Oxidation technology was tested and chosen by the Chinese Government to help contain the SARS virus. Excellent television and press coverage. 2004 RGF signs a contract to develop14 products for EcoQuest, who has sold over 1,000,000 air purifiers since 1986. EcoQuest changed their entire product line over to RGF's RCI, an advanced oxidation technology designed for small residential applications. Micro-organisms can be reduced by over 97%.OK, so how does it know which chemicals are odors to be destroyed and which chemicals are part of your house and your belongings? How does it know which are bacterial cells to destroy and which are human cells to "leave alone"? Why are you trying to kill mold spores at all? How can it destroy odor molecules without creating oxidation products that can be more reactive or harmful? What happens to the dead bacterial cells and mold spores that contain allergens and LPS endotoxins? With all the wizbang, high-tech lights and shiny metal parts and friendly, non-ozone oxidizers, I'd bet that you could sell people these devices, even at the price of $1,400. I just can't think of any reason that I would ever want one.Steve Temes Wei Tang, Ph.D. Lab Director QLab5 DriveCherry Hill, NJ 08003 Faxwww.QLabUSA.com
Guest guest
No the product is not an ion generator as such. The technology is known as photocatalysis or photocatalytic oxygen [PCO] and a google search under either key will bring forward bushels of references. The RGF device is a reactor consisting of a specual UV bulb which illuminates a target of an appropriate catalyst. The target then converts water vapor from the air stream into a variety of advanced oxygen substances the result of which is purified/sterilized air being delivered down stream. An amount of the purifying vapors/plasma/gases can linger and permeate the facility. Ozone is not measurably detected. The surfaces within the room soon become virtually germ free. Because of legal restrictions [EPA interpretations] nothing is said about killing germs in the air. It is permitted to say that microbials are reduced. Thus if one would take a microbial count before and then after an installation one would surely find a significant reduction of the microbials. Any of our traditional skeptics can easily test the validity of the technology with a series of properly prepared petri dishes. I'm speaking of the simple before and after test..... Your question of the process being an ion generator is IMO of significance. The activity at the site of the catalyst does indeed create ionized air. How much I don't know. I have seen a hospital study where filtered air [HEPA filtration] being fed into an operating room and meeting hospital standards had a further 80% reduction of fine particulates after air duct devices using the technology was installed. I have attended the two day RGF commercial school at their factory in Palm Beach and have been awarded their certified advanced oxygen certificate. I'll be happy to try and answer any question sent to me directly. I no longer receive daily messages from this list. I do sell a number of products from the several manufacturers of this technology Gibala > > Group, > > > > Is this an ion generator? > > > > > > > > ________________________________ > > From: iequality [mailto:iequality ] On > Behalf Of healthy4all > Sent: Wednesday, February 13, 2008 3:20 PM > To: iequality > Subject: RE: RGF's Guardian Air HVAC Duct Indoor Air > Sanitation Question > > > > HI and all: > > > > All I know is what I've read on their website, the testimonials my HVAC > friend brought back from his conference and the conversation I had with > RGF's sales rep on the phone who offered to send me hundreds of > testimonials but not studies.
