Amy, the Amish pay all their medical cost out of pocket as they do not carry insurance. Hospitals have a tendency to charge the same high fees but give a reduction to insurance companies but not those who have to pay out of pocket, so good for them more uninsured people with enough numbers and clout could try the same. I council a lot of the Amish on Lyme disease and testing. Prof. Carol
