Guest guest
Patty, My son was diagnosed with BPP a couple of years ago. Up until then it was just " non-specific white matter changes " . He was diagnosed with a seizure disorder at about 1 yr. old; he has been on Tegretol since then and has had no seizure activity in a long time. It's hard to know, though, all we ever saw in seizure activity was a twitching of his eye. Had Wes had seizures before? I hope you find a medication soon that will work for him. When Sam was about 3 yrs old, after his testing at school, I, too, was told that he was mild to moderately impaired cognitively, which I disagreed with. Last year he was re-evaluated, and the school psychologist gave him a non-verbal intelligence test and he scored in the low-normal range. Wishing you well, Christie, mom to Sam (8 yrs old, BPP) > Seth's Birthday > >Date: Sat, 26 Feb 2000 12:15:13 -0600 > > > > > > > >Happy Birthday Seth! Guest guest
Christie - way to go Sam !! I know I'm heading down the exact same path. They're already having problems scoring her accurately because of her being non-verbal. I'm sure as she gets older, the testing will become more accurate... Thanks for the info. Us parents with younger kids with BPP really appreciate it !!!! Take care all, - mommy of Crystal Aquielle - 23 mos. old - BPP & adorable... Guest guest
Thanks for your message. As I said before he'll be tested next month or May. I'll mention this to the psychologist. I also work with her as a professional. Need to run, write later. Guest guest
Christie, When they diagnosed him as low to normal did you find it changed your benefits any. Teddy is currently getting respite care (someone comes to the house to give me a break for a couple of hours) but if he ends up with to high an IQ (I think above 70) we'd lose that. Funny how one the one hand I want him to be as smart as his twin and on the other it's amazing to have daycare I don't have to pay for! Kim Raub (mother of Teddy - 2 1/2 w/diffuse PMG) He uses sign language, runs around, rides a big wheel, has trouble chewing & swallowing solid foods, has 1 identical twin (without PMG), 2 big brothers and a busy Daddy. We live in CT. Seth's Birthday > >Date: Sat, 26 Feb 2000 12:15:13 -0600 > > > > > > > >Happy Birthday Seth! Guest guest
Kim, None of our benefits changed with the test results, but we aren't getting respite care, so I don't really know about that.
