SSRI:s are a bad bunch, with persistent sexual-side effects as one great danger.

But if I dare ask the question on this list - is there likely to be any

significant differences between individual SSRI:s as to that particular

side-effect? Are some likely to be a little less dangerous (if it´s possible to

state it in that way) than others? E.g. if substances with faster-onset action

and shorter half-life (Paxil horror stories come to my mind) may be worse from

PSSD angle than those with longer half-life. // Ulf

Aloha Ulf! Nope...SSRI's = ED, genital nubness, loss of libido,

reduced ejaculation and probably more. Now the half-life thing is

another story...I KNOW that they vary in THAT department.

I'm currently taking 5mgs of Celexa that I used to take 20mgs of for

18 months and turned me into a asexual being and almost ruined my

marriage (fortunately my wife loves me " in sickness and in health " )

and we just celebrated our 27th anniversary.

In 13 more days I'm stopping ALL SSRI's. If there is a drug that

messes with my sexuality, I refuse to take it. Unfortunately, when I

started on this anti-d, I had NO IDEA what the sexual side effects

ARE (not were or could be). Had I known, I'd have run the other way!

If I ever need another anti-d I don't know what I'll do. Maybe just

take lots of hot baths and listen to Van Halen's oU812 over and

over. But my depression is virtually non-existent thanks to TRT

(testosterone replacement therapy) and is also relieving some of my

chronic pain...

Enough for now,

Wayne

If that's true then I feel sorry for the poor souls who are now

trying the new fast-acting, short half-life SSRI dapoxetine for

premature ejaculation. They are sort of marketing it as free of

long-term side effects. Let's see.

For me, paxil side effects went away while prozac side effects never

did. Paxil side effects started within 2 days, went away just as

quickly, while prozac's took about a month, and kicked in overnight.

Also had withdrawal from paxil while none with prozac. Don't know

what this means. I did take prozac for 6 months and paxil only 2, so

maybe that had something to do with it.
