Subject: FYI / EPA ANPR: Formaldehyde Emissions from Pressed Wood Products EPA has launched a broad effort to gain a greater scientificunderstanding of the potential health risks of formaldehyde's use inpressed wood products. Through this process, EPA will develop riskassessments on potential adverse health effects, evaluate the costs andbenefits of possible control technologies and approaches, and determinewhether EPA action is needed to address any identified risks. Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking On November 25, 2008, EPA issued an advance notice of proposedrulemaking, that:

Describes EPA's initial steps to investigate potential actions toprotect against risks posed by formaldehyde emitted from pressed woodproducts used in manufactured homes and other places;Requests comment, information and data relating to formaldehydeemissions from pressed wood products.
