WUFI Pro and WUFI Plus in Miami Beach in September Greetings!

We are offering back-to-back WUFI workshops: WUFI Pro, the standard or introductory workshop for modeling walls and roofs; and WUFI Plus, the whole building modeling software. You can sign up for either workshop or both. WUFI Pro is the prerequisite for WUFI Plus, as you need to learn how the basic software works before you have the more complex inputs for modeling an entire building.

WUFI Pro will be Thursday through Friday, September 25-26.

WUFI Plus will be Tuesday through Thursday, September 30 - October 1.

Both workshops will be at the Sheraton Four Points, Miami Beach, where they are in the process of setting up a discounted block of sleeping rooms. Registrants will be notified when the room block is set up.

ASTM is meeting just down the street at the Fontainebleau Hotel, so you may be able to attend those meetings and a workshop in one trip.

About WUFI ® WUFI series software allows the realistic simulation of the transient hygrothermal behavior of multiple-layer wall and roof systems exposed to natural weather.The WUFI series models can handle contributions from rain, solar radiation, and other crucial weather events on an hourly basis. Both vapor and liquid transport are included, along with the sorptive capacity of building construction materials.

WUFI Pro, Sept. 25 - 26 This is the basic WUFI workshop on modeling hygrothermal transport through walls and roofs. It is hands-on; you will run simulations in class on your own laptop.

WUFI Plus, Sept. 30 - Oct. 1 The hygrothermal behaviour of a building component that is exposed to weather is an important aspect of the overall performance of a building. Today the hygric transport phenomena through a building envelope are well understood and a realistic assessment of all relevant effects can be carried out by one of the numerous models and computer programs that have been developed in different countries over the last years.

The calculation of the hygrothermal performance of a part of the envelope is state-of-the-art, but until now the total behaviour of the actual whole building is not accounted for. Its importance is increasing as modern dwellings become more airtight and show elevated indoor humidity levels.

In this workshop new holistic models, that take into account the main hygrothermal effects like moisture sources and sinks inside a room, moisture input from the envelope due to capillary action, diffusion and vapour ab-/desorption as a response to the exterior and interior climate conditions, heat source and sinks inside the room, heat input from the envelope, the solar energy input through walls and windows and hygrothermal sources and sinks due to natural or mechanical ventilation will be presented. Beside the theoretical background several practical applications will be shown.
