Guest guest
Testing... could be the sematic cell count in the milk. My parents sell milk and the creamery tests for this continuously. If they go above a certain number for three consecutive months they can't ship milk, ect until the problem is fixed. Grace, a Augustine I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright. Guest guest
Keep in mind that the milk may or may not have been recalled. the people who work in stores dont always know the real answer. when they don't have the accurate info, they 'make up' stories. there have been many times in the past few years that the dairy person (at a Whole Foods in Ventura County) would tell me that the Steueve's (when they were in business) or Claravale milk was 'recalled' when it was nothing more than being out of milk, or taking their cows offline for testing, or whatever reason. I would not take what a dairy person says at a store to be the truth. they assume if it was on the shelf for the past 20 weeks and then its not on the shelf one week that its been recalled - rarely is any raw milk ever recalled these days and to my knowledge, even if it was recalled there was never a real problem with it - just government red tape. cheers

Lynne Hmmmmm. Thanks for the info. There's only one other store in the area that carries Claravale, I will call them and see what they say. Very suspicious. If the store was lying for some reason, I'll just take my business to the other place - heck, I'm already driving over an hour to get there, another 15 minutes to the next place won't hurt. I wonder what the minimum is that has to be ordered from Claravale by stores? I'd love to get the hfs in the town closest to me to carry it, but their dairy section is tiny, and if I'm the only one who wants it I doubt they'd get it for me unless I bought the whole shipment. I don't know anyone else near me who wants raw milk enough to pay the premium for it. If so, he was creative about it. Said he just talked to the dairy, there was a mandatory recall for testing, and the store would be getting their product back ASAP, including cream, but it would be a couple weeks at least. Whatever the situation, I hope the store wasn't lying to me, I might have to get angry and take my business elsewhere. Perhaps in this case, yet another message telling me to get my own cow! Aubin __________________________________________________

I know the state regulations for certified raw milk are far beyond what's required for other milk, and if indeed there was any recall for testing it's probably just bureaucracy at work. Guest guest
I spoke with the other store I know of that carries Claravale, and they knew nothing about any recall or testing. So something is not right about what I was told by the guy at Wild Oats - either he was making it up, or ? Annoying. I'm considering calling the store manager and at least telling them I found them out, and to please not make up stuff in response to customer inquiries! At the very least, I'll start going to the other store instead. --- marianne2406@... wrote: > We are winning in small ways and continuing to do > something 'different' will > ensure that we will win the entire battle in the > long term. Sometimes it seems like everything about how we usually eat in this house is different. I believe we'll win as individuals at least, even if the conventional wisdom regarding " healthy " food continues in its downward spiral. Guest guest
I'm on what's called a " quackbuster " list. A quack, by their definition is any doctor who does not practice the poison, cut and burn of conventional medicine. (Not their words, of course. Best part is the list owner is on our side. I got tossed from one such list because what I said was not what the owner liked. [giggle]) One of those idiots states emphatically that, " Food is food. If it's on the grocery shelf it's good for you. " Another member and I are in the process of educating him.
