Guest guest
hello I have been following with great interest this group for quite a while. I finnaly got the appointment today for a speech and language assessment for my son 2 1/2. We got a PDD diagnosis for him abroad, he is not verbal.A fresh diagnosis needs to be made here in the UK in order to get help. The consultant did not know anything about biomedical approach and when I asked her opinion about VB she said I better talk to real pople about treatments instead of keep looking for answers on the internet. She suggested I wait until a pediatrician sees my son, and then for another people from education services and social services, and then they will sit together and agree on whether to give my son a diagnosis or not. In the mean time she will sent me to follow a " Hanen Programme " for the rest of the year (and to take some antidepressants). I would like to know from your experiences from the beggining and what to expect fron the NHS. I am very confussed. Any advise would be very much appreciated.
