Guest guest
I'm pretty sure Wayne was the first to publish on the metronidazole sensitivity of hypoxic Mtb. Others have repeated the same work. However metro was near inactive in the TB mouse model. [O2] is low-ish inside activated macrophages (and resting ones?). But maybe not low enough. I dont know whether O2 deactivates the metronidazole-derived radical by reacting with it, or instead stops Mtb from expressing the nitroreductase enzyme that produces the radical. Same question goes for the Cpn situation.
