I am sorry to hear of your friend Steve. You obviously meant a great deal to him and to his mother beccause of your unending love for all.

Isn't it sad that Steve's father in his grief felt the need to hurt another person? It does seem that father's have the most difficult time with this illness or any illness. But by you showing up, he at least knows someone else cared about his son.

Thanks for passing on Tony's news. It must feel so good to be surrounded and cared for by his mom after being ill for so long. Dear Friends:

Most people when they go to the hospital usually go to have surgery to have

something removed or fixed or to even deliver a baby. What if you went into the

hospital and were critically ill and what the nursing assistants removed was

your dignity and respect in your last hours here. To make matters even worse

when you tried to speak and tell what happened, the nursing assistants laugh at

you-like you did not know what you were talking about in front of your

child-that your voice did not count.

What if the same family values, still ran in your family today like in the years

of your relative Sergeant Alvin C. York? God, Family, Community. You gave the

hospital a chance to correct their mistake by not suing them. By correcting some

obvious policies that were out dated so the nursing assistants did not get just

a “verbal.” Then they asked you what could we do to “honor” your loved one. You,

the child thought endlessly and gave the hospital suggestions but they would

shun them down and never would offer what they would do.

Instead waiting weeks even months, hoping you went away they toyed with your

mind and downplayed what happened. They would talk down to you. This would

happen even when you knew the truth.

To think, it could have been as simple as planting a tree or even donating

materials or time to some agency in the name of your loved one. Just something

to show they respected the dearly departed.

Does it sound like it could not happen in this day in age? Is it true that we

cannot talk as adults to resolve issues but have to seek peace and justice

strictly through the courts.

You will be shocked to know this did happen at a hospital in Laconia, New

Hampshire.

I'm glad they caught the infection and were able to treat it. Sounds awful. Are you in Atlanta right now and trying to get things together to get back to your mom's? I hope you can take your computer, too.

Each first star at night I think of you and we've had some beautiful evenings. The other day, Dave and I were in the parking lot at the store and just stood in the rain to be awed by two full rainbows across the sky. I haven't seen that for quite awhile and still revel in the beauty. Everyone of our group was in my heart at that moment - it was a prayerful moment to be cherished.

Dear Tony,

I am so thrilled for you that you get to spend Mother's Day with your mom this year. Of course when she has come to see you, I think you made everyday a Mother's Day by the special things you did for her like paint her room her favorite color. That was so sweet. As a mom I would want nothing more Than to have my son celebrate the miracle of motherhood with me because he wanted to be there as much as you do.
