Absent seizures....or something else!

A question to parents of kids with absent seizures or not if they

have the same as my boy.

Just before 3yrs old my son started to ...go into a catertonic freeze

for a few seconds. I was told by Paed this is more than

likely 'zoning out' but he never saw them.

He will be doing anything and then freeze, his face goes into a blank

stare and looks more serious usually mouth open...pupils are wide

(but not sure this is from not blinking) then returns to normal size

after 30seconds-1 minute after episode.

He does not drop what he has in his hand but his hand will go down

to 'resting' level. This last from 3 seconds to 8 seconds. I did

start recording them and he started CFGF diet which they dramatically

reduced to 1-4 a week. I think the casein is a factor as he has had

occassional slpi and these episodes? return within 10 days....usually

7-10 days after casein.

He does not respond to his name and then on thrid attempt of calling

him he has a high pitch scream and comes out of them....their is no

time factor involved but I think something to do with 1-1.5 hrs after

a meal has ?????something to do with it also. These come in clusters

was few times a day for few days then 2-5 days with no episodes. Now

1 a day then 5-7 days without any.

It could be anywhere they happen!

Any thoughts/experiences similar that you could share....will be

presenting Paed with 3 months worth of 'episodes' recorded on

behaviour charts. I am hoping (praying) he just daydreams. I will

hopefully get eeg for him at some point.

Sorry so long but wanted to explain them in as much detail for

feedback....thanks.
