Guest guest
Hi and welcome! I only found this group recently also...what is your name?I can pretty much relate to everything you feel. I understand completely what you go through and it is like being molested, very sickening feeling and a feeling of being completely out of control with what is happening to you. And to think that these feelings can be brought upon my something as small as tapping or chewing is unbearable..it's horrible. It does really affect and take control of your life, emotions and all of your relationships. It's extremely restrictive and tormenting. Sometimes I think I would rather be blind or deaf or both...but I know my brain would probably pick something else to make me feel the same way.I have also notice that it gets worse with too much caffeine, stress, PMS, lack of sleep or poor nutrition. So sorry that you have to go through this but am glad we found this group!!!andraTo: Soundsensitivity Sent: Sunday, November 23, 2008 3:37:37 AMSubject: Re: Re: Sexual Cpmponent I only found this group a few days ago and my jaw has dropped. I have only told my mom and dad about this... but when I am affected by 4S, and I hope the Dr. reads this, because this is really a PHYSICAL reaction worthy of study, all my tension goes, sorry to be frank, but this is a medical forum to a degree, straight to the tip of my penis and will grow in intensity but it's not sexual... it's sickening, and at the end of the intensity there is a "pop" of like my nerves saying, "that's all we can take". I've noticed this since I was very little. My reactions are VERY physical to 4S. When I was little, and I look back in embarrassment, I would grab my crotch to make it stop... it's as though the sound maker is inadvertently molesting you, access to something very private. It's hell. It rules my interactions with people, friends, and family. I HATE it. I find a way to get by but just recently my friend was literally GOBBLING her popcorn in a rather loud movie and, already with a seat between us, I was so uncomfortable "down there" that I left the theater in a huff and had to stand outside and breathe deeply. AN ASIDE: 4S bother me less when I drink less coffee. I think there is a link between caffeine and the intensity that can be experienced with 4S. Guest guest
No not identical, he has no signs of 4S in fact its quite the opp he is one of the people that us 4S find very hard to deal with, the type of person who will chew with their mouth open or sometimes forget that they have to be a little more sensitive around us, makes it hard really. We are IVF babies. I envy him a lot of the time, he doesn’t understand what I go through and be honest, I don’t want him to , if he were to understand it maybe some gentic code would be triggered and he would get it and that would be the most horrible thing I could inflict on someone. Does he have 4s also if you are identical? Just wondering. Sexual Cpmponent God..I just WISH someone could figure out WHY there is a sexual component to mouth noises and 4S! This has been my problem since early puberty, and I almost cannot take it anymore. Unfortunately (or fortunatley, depending on how you look at it), my trigger is soley mouth noises; primarily gum chewing, which is an incessant, repetitive mouth sound. I am hyper-vigilant when entering a room; always looking for the people who are chewing gum so I can stay away even though I wind up looking at them, fixated on their repugnant chewing, for some strange reason. The problem is, there are so many triggers to 4S, and some feel actual pain, whereas others of us are just in phsychological discomfort. andra, I understand you completely, and I have brought up the sexual component (feeling a twinge down " there " ..but NOT pain) in the past, and others have responded that they have similar feelings, but like almost everything else with 4S, there just don't seem to be any answers! All we can do is hope! > > > > > > > > > > I saw a therapist for a while as a teenager, when my first 4S > symptoms started - - - she > > > suspected that I had witnessed a " primal scene " as a very young > child or baby (that is, I > > saw - > > > and more importantly head - my parents - aaack! - " in the act " ) - > and that the " trauma " > > had > > > manifested itself as this intense aversion to certain very human > sounds - chewing, > > sniffing, > > > throat clearing.
