Guest guest
Over the holiday I decided to quit screwing around in the gym and actually start lifting weight seriously, see where it would take me. I'm fairly active, do kendo, some wrestling, hiking, gardening, bicycling, etc., and figured that the weight lifting would be an investment that would pay dividends for all those things. Unfortunately, within a couple of weeks, my sleep pattern went sour on me. I don't think it's overtraining, my body doesn't feel like hell or anything, I give myself at least one day off between workouts, and honestly that usually stretches out to 2-3 days between workouts (I'm lazy), and the occasional week off because I'm busy doing other things (I think I manage a week off every four weeks or so just because of work requirements and personal stuff). But one of the things I've noticed is that my sleep is really junk since I started lifting. It's not that I need less or anything, I'm plenty tired, and probably need more, but it just doesn't happen. I tried half a sleeping pill twice now and ended up sleeping great and waking up feeling great, but while that's probably ok once in a while, I can't make a routine out of it. So, any advice for a guy in need of a snooze? Thanks, - Lockhart Hilo, Hawaii USA
