Guest guest
My dear friends, as we all feel the shock of the horrific scenes in New York and Washington it is an understatement that I send my condolances to all the group and especially to those who have friends or relatives that may be caught up in the catastrophe. But as the shock turns to anger and inevitably brings a need for revenge, let us not forget that these are the feelings that bring the terrorist acts in the first place. Lets hope that we can break the cycle and that any retaliation will be honestly aimed at reducing the liklihood of such evil acts and not increasing it. On the other side for me, a possible flare is lurking around the corner...actually is in full speed!! After feeling great during the summer, I started to cut down the prednisone to 6.25 mg a day. Since friday night, suddenly I have joint and muscle pain cannot move, sore throat, swollen knees, evening fevers up to 38.5 C, cold sweats and tiredness. I know I overdid it in the last weeks... but all this happened parallel with a vaginal infection. My rheumy does not think it is related and asked for a throat swap. I will get the results on friday. Did anyone had such an experience with that kind of infection? Thankyou. Fatma
Guest guest
I also experience increased Stills symptoms anytime I get any sort of infection. The Stills symptoms usually overshadow the symptoms of the infection. For example, I rarely get colds but when I do they are very mild and do not last long. However, my joints and muscles ache more, I feel feverish, etc. This is common for me, although I have been in remission for about 6 years. The infections have never brought about a full flare. However, I have not had any sort of serious infection, not even the flu, since Stills. I really wonder whether something like that would bring on another flare. It seems to me that our immune systems are quite " primed " so we tend to have increased Stills symptoms anytime a " legitimate " infection invades our bodies. Best wishes to everyone as we struggle to deal with yesterday's tragedy. My family was quite worried for awhile since my brother-in-law works at the Pentagon (playing " war games " on computer systems). The D.C. phone system was so clogged that we could not reach him until last night. Luckily, he was supposed to have gone out of town yesterday, and was at the airport when the Pentagon was hit.
