Guest guest
a: Check your references here- I think you're incorrect on Zith's metabolism. It's not metabolised thru the enzymatic P540 system- I think it's the biliary system that metabolizes it- unlike it's predecessor erythromysin that does go thru the P450. Barb PS Zith sludges up some people gall bladder. a Wrote in part One further thought - I have always responded well to Zithromax which is processed through the liver via the P450 pathway. Diflucan is also processed through P450. The theory behind why it works on borrelia is that borrelia uses a P450 enzyme to reproduce or something?? - this makes me think that both Zithromax and now Diflucan may be the best thing for me to take NOT TOGETHER. This may also explain why I do so well on Zithromax even though theoretically it is not the best antibiotic for borrelia. Anyway, I plan to continue the Schardt protocol. I feel bad enough these 25 days that I actually may be herxing which I never did on Zithromax. Of course, it may just be the continuation of whatever started seven months ago when I developed the headache and vertigo. No one knows. a Carnes
Guest guest
BArb, you may be right. I don't think I ever knew and always depended on folks like yourself to tell me the esoteric details. But if Zithromax isn't processed through the P450 liver pathway then why can't you take Zithromax and Diflucan together. My doc made a big deal yesterday commenting on this. I'm not even sure how to look up this to answer your question. Duh! a > > a: > Check your references here- I think you're incorrect on Zith's > metabolism. Guest guest
Off hand- I don't know why - you'd have to ask him (or research Diflucan) I'm sure he has a reason. He is German. My local doctor who prescribed the Diflucan told me that Zithromax is one of several drugs that cannot be taken with Diflucan because of the stress on the liver. I'll see if I can look this up when I get time. a
