My nose often runs when I start a new antibiotic (and my nose usually doesn't run either). I always felt it was the bugs responding to the drugs (fighting/dying). However, most doctors will tell you that it is most likely an inflammatory response to the abx, which they say is common. I don't understand the benefit of taking a drug one time, once a month. If anything, it seems like it would build the organisms's resistance to that drug. Or maybe I'm missing someting? pennydrspeckster <drspeckster@...> wrote: Steam. I could write a book on the weird stuff that has come

from my sinuses. Since I had my 5th sinus surgery in

July I have been using a compounded nasal spray with

ketoconazal and gentamycin. Also still taking

zithromax orally. For the first time since 1987 the

discharge from my sinuses ranges from clear to white.

The white I assume is white blood cells. I don't know

how long I will continue to take the nasal spray but

as long as the Dr. (actually 2 doctors) perscribes it

I am happy to be hitting the infection in my sinuses

and nasal passages that have kept me sick for 2

decades.

Whose theory is this? Even if this does somehow work against mycoplasma, what's to keep it from making other bugs stronger? That's what usually happens when you feed them just a little antibiotic at a time. As a matter of fact, that could be exactly what you're experiencing. Staph, pseudomonas or some other organism reacting to the perceived threat of the clindamyacin.
