Dr. Bell's original cohort had drunk unpasteurized milk

Tony and all,

I just came across an excerpt from Dr. Bell's new book. In it

he says that his original patients, kids, had drunk unpasteurized

milk but he could never find out what they were infected with.

Any thoughts on this?

Staph is a common complaint from the udders of infected cows.I also

think it can come under the heading of mastitis.

I drank unpastureized milk from cows and goats until I was 21 - I was

so totally healthy it was un beleivable.

Then at 26 yrs old I had a blood transfusion (suspected to be

tainted with Lyme/babesia or Lyme/Malaria) and I was never the same.

Actually - all my family- and extended family grew up on farms, drank

raw milk and now as adults they've all lived extremely healthy lives.

So- while there are many things that go Bump in the milk.. it's not

100% of the time.

Bob, you might be interested to research nondenatured whey protein

such as ImmunoPro RX. It is not pasteurized and does not contian

lactose. I have wondered all along if it helps cfs patients so much

simply because it was never heated to the level milk is today. Dr.

Bounous who first did studies on this found that he was using whey

products on mice to see how it helped them. Suddenly he found them

deteriorating on the whey he was feeding them. Turns out the world

had just upped the temperature required for pasteurizing milk and the

whey no longer helped the mice, or was it rats, but you get the point.

Curious.

Penny'

I suppose the key to unpasteurised goats milk may lies in the person

drawing the milk being there to fully appreciate spoilage that in a

larger practise may cause problems.Imagine hundreds of goats

supplying a batch of milk without that one on one personal screening.

I've even read that goats milk has caused havoc in the past in some

european countries, this being recorded from the middle of last

century.

The milkers on our farm were mostly Holsteins - but there was a

percentage of Jerseys to raise the butter fat content. The Jersye's

milk came into the house her milk was good to cook with.. I preferred

drinking her milk because of the fat content.

And I eat a high dairy fat diet to this day.. no fat free (or skim

or reduced) milk has ever passed my lips...

I raised Nupian crosses for a while - and was milking 4 adults and

selling the milk (this was in the 1970's).

There were several components that went into producing good milk -

one the breed of goat-, 2nd their diet (not many really know that

goats are more like deer - and not like sheep) and 3- their living

arrangements.

At the time I was living where the land was screaming for goats... I

could milk one of my goats, strain it thru cheese cloth chill it-

then put it in a (grocery store) milk bottle and serve it- and no one

knew they were drinking goats milk - they thought it was store bough

Cow milk... It tasted really really good.

But I've tasted some really really bad goat's milk..

Barb, I can relate. I was a kid in the 50s and my neighbors raised

goats for milk. I guess I drank milk from every goat they milked.

Some of it was delicious and some nasty. I always thought it was

because the goats had a tendancy to eat different stuff they liked,

just as humans do. It always made me mad that they LOVED to eat the

trilliums out in our woods. They just decimated those lovely flowers.
