Guest guest
Thanks Mandi, when you give ALA alone do you give it 3 hourly per Andy Cutler’s protocol? When you use DMSA once a month is it for one round ie every 3 hours of DMSA during a round. >>>Yes 3 hourly although earlier in chelation he did better on it 2.5 hourly, we give the DMSA 3 hourly also when we do ALAL with it Mandi x

Thanks again Gillianx Thanks Mandi, I’ve read the posts on Andy Cutler’s site and some parents have come back with the pros and cons of using ALA alone. This would mean dropping DMSA . What’s your view on ALA on its own for the second phase of chelation ie getting the mercury out. >>Many use ALA on its own, we have too and plan to again, just using DMSA once per month given we have so many rounds under our belt, Sam's a lead head so we must plough on Mandi x
Guest guest
Apologies Mandy for throwing another question at you. I presume the 3 hourly ALA you gave was just at weekends ie Fri, Sat and Sun and the last dose on Monday morning. Is this right. For about 18 months I was able to get the then school nurse to give doses at 11.00and 2.00pm so I could start on Friday AM 8.00 and get some sleep on Sunday night, working full time and chelating is bloody hard work Mandi x
Guest guest
why is vrp not an option, can it be opened? If DMSA is 4 hourly then when one gives ALA and DMSA together should this be done every 4 hourly because “DMSA is 4 hourly”. Is it OK to give the both together 3 hourly? Apologies if you have answered this already. >>No you give both 3 hourly when you are doing ALA Also Mandi, what prompted your decision to drop the DMSA and only do DMSA once a month. >>When you have as many rounds under your belt as we do (120) it takes longer for the Lead to come out of the bones and into the blood where you are able to chelate it. Andy suggests once a month for the DMSA when you have been at it as long as we have. Also I don't have much DMSA and I find the Breakspear policy of making me pay for a consult to get whats already on our records annoying to say the least. Sam still won't swallow caps so using the VRP one is not an option, I need Kirkman Mandi x
