Some people may be having trouble getting their insurance to cover extended prescriptions that are not the usual treatment protocol for a certain antibiotic or drug. I was taking Diflucan at 200 mg a day for 25 days. (based on a treatment for borrelia designed by Dr. Schardt in Germany, and approved by my doctor) When it was time for the second 25 days of Diflucan my insurance, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, denied payment for 5 months.

I talked with the pharmacist at my drug store. She said they will match the lowest price I can bring her. She then called Costco where I had heard the price would be about $60. (Thanks to the person who told me Costco had a good price.)

Turns out the price was about $21. Needless to say, I just took my first day of the second cycle of Diflucan after about a week of trying to figure out what to do.

It is of medical interest that my constant pressure headache of 7 months completely cleared the first month on Diflucan and then 2 weeks of penicillin. Within 3 days after I stopped the penicillin the headache returned - much to my surprise. I will post further in a few days to see if the headache clears. My liver function has remained completely normal, and I am not taking anything else that could stress the liver function.
