Wow, these doses are large in terms of As mass. The Angola protocol

described here delivers 30.2 mg As /day, twelve times (spread out over

a few weeks). That's 360 mg total.

It's very interesting that certain drugs are effective against West

African trypanosomiasis only in its early stages. Why is that? Is there

maybe a physiological resistance that sets in once the bugs get bottled

up and (perhaps) slow their metabolism?
