Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the group. I conversed with Penny via email re: MRSA/Staph

Infection. She suggested this group and especially that TONY may know

of something.

I am having a resistent MRSA/Staph infection. Been on and off

Bactrim DS(same as Septra DS) for months(of which I had a culture done

and it showed that Bactrim/Septra should have worked to clear it

up.... but it just keeps coming back*cry*.

I recently tried Zyvox, which is a MAOI Antibiotic. It made me so

sick as I already have CFIDS AND OTHER MEDICAL CONDITIONS.

couple questions..

1.) I've heard of something regarding " " " THREE/ 3 Antibiotics " " " "

taken together...anyone know what the Three antibiotics are????

Does anyone know about that?

2.) Has Penecillin worked for many of you to clear up MRSA/Staph?

I was on roxy/doxy plus pulsed metronizadole and improving all the time until the ugly thing of intracranial hypertension reared its head.

Go over to www.cpnhelp.org for the rationale. It is intended for occult infections, primarily of Chlamydia pneumoniae but has broader applicability.

The problem is that you just don't eradicate infections especially

not the staph variety by anything like septra/bactrim on it's own..

also because you have cfs, your coagulation, dehydration, bad

vascularity and a few other things don't help the situation.

Normally staph infections are treated with multiple therapies-

whenever I've read the success stories.Even when vancomycin the king

of antibiotics is used, the manufacturer suggests the use of other

agents- NOT ON IT " S OWN. Guess what, some ID docs give half doses and

infrequently to there patients, creating medical catastrophes with

staph infections.I have even been to a hospital setting where one

patient told me has been treating his staph infection for ten years

with what looked to me like a pathetic option of oral drugs.

You really have to try hard to eradicate the sinus carriage of this

organism(as well) as a priority, because frequently when people are

infected at a wound site with MRSA it stems from this sinus

carriage.....your basically reinfecting yourself at every oppurtunity

you give this oprganism.

Unfortunately Cheryl there's no easy answer and it takes a full

throttle attack to knock this back to bearable IMO........
