These guys reported that TLR2 allowed phagocytosed S aureus to survive *longer*: http://www.jimmunol.org/cgi/content/full/178/8/4917 They mention: " it was recently reported the Porphyromonas gingivalis, a Gram-negative bacterium, is cleared in TLR2-deficient mice more rapidly than in wild-type mice (24).
