I was so nervous. Fortunatelly my husband was able to change a flight back home earlier and came along. The Spec Ed officer for the district (who is a speech pathologist), the brazilian psychologist who did the education, psychological and family history and also acted as an interpreted at the OT and ST evaluations, a psychologist from the school district, s private nursery headteacher and a mum with a son with special needs were there. As recommended by some of you, since 2 of the people never met , I brought a photo of her and the school photo together with her peers at the new nursery. It was highly appreciated. It all went on smoothly - the psychologist who did the evaluation described the reports briefly and said she recommended all services, the headteacher said how she was doing well in the transition and that they were lucky to have another brazilian boy in class to help out. Because it is an open environment classroom, s nanny has been going to give a helping hand avoiding her drifting away to other more interesting things (what she is doing less and less once she becomes familiar with the routine. Then the suggetion was one aide for 2 hours at school 4 days a week, 1 hour a day of school aide at home. 45 minutes ST 3x a week (they offered 2 and I asked for one more - the psychologist agrreed), 30 min sessions of OT and PT each 2x a week. She will try to find people who come home. We are keeping her at the private nursery because the district can only offer a self-restrained classroom and we didnt want that and also because she had so many moves lately, we wanted to keep her quiet for some time. I am relieved and think it turned out pretty good !
