Just goes to show you that the DS fades into the background after a

while. Glad Saylor will be OK.

Don't be too hard on yourself. You're just one person who (if you're

like most of us) has the responsibilities of 3.

I did something similar a few years

ago. We left in the early morning for a busy day. I didn't

take my med or give Josiah his thyroid med. We ran by the house, quickly,

in-route to the next activity, I had his med in my hand....the phone rang and

something else happened all at once. I swallowed the pill in my hand

(thinking it was mine) in my confusion and desire to hurry. I immediately

knew what I had done. I was glad that " I " was the one with the

wrong medicine. I felt weird for about 36 hours....kind of jittery and

wanted out of my skin. I wondered about him taking it....but finally put

it out of my mind because he's been taking it for years and his thyroid numbers

are stable.

That was unusual for me. I usually

take it in to him with a glass of water when I wake him up so it's in his stomach

alone for around 30 min to an hour.

I know you are wondering HOW DO YOU DO THAT?

The answer is …I don’t know…..

I went to get Sydnie’s synthroid and walked

through the living room…at the same time their daddy had come in from his

other job….Sydnie was talking to him and I was in the middle of doing

Gosh knows what and literally popped it in Saylors mouth…..she finally

said HEY MOM I TOOK SYDS MEDICINE AND LIKED IT CAUSE IM GOING TO TAKE IT WHEN I

GET BIG! I looked at her and thought what is she TALKING

ABOUT….(she likes to talk)…and suddenly I was like OH MY

GOSHHHHHHHHHHHH So I stood there….think think

thinkkkkkkkkkkkk ….i traced my steps and realized she was sitting in the

recliner and Sydnie was sitting on the couch…they were watching Shrek the

Halls.

I called a friend aka Saylors teacher cause I

thought she took synthroid….no…she laughed and said Im sure

she’s fine…WHATTTTTTT….so then I started to call the

pharmacist….almost 9pm by now….but I was going to find someone

NOW……called POISON CONTROL!!! They assured me it has to build in

your system and not to beat myself up about it…WHATTTT??? IM A

TERRIBLE MOTHER!!!

So anyway after all was calm…I was able to

look at myself and say WHAT AN IDIOT!!! Nevermind I tell myself that

every day!

Wow Kathy! Thank God Danny was OK after that overdose! I think we should all remember that our instincts are usually right. It is in our nature to not be rude to others, and I can totally see myself doing the same thing if I were in that situation! I got mad right along with you when you said that she said he was "so much work" GRRRR

Ya'll are all making me laugh though and thinking back at all the things that I went through with Tim when he was young! Be sure to visit my blog tomorrow and I will try to post one of those "crazy moments"

That is so funny! Even though I'm new to the group, I thought I'd

share my foggy brain story...by the way, I've NEVER told anyone this

except my husband who laughed so hard!

My older son, as I've mentioned before has autism, ADHD & anxiety,

so he is on a morning medication and two at night just so he will

sleep (Thank the Lord above that my little one with Down SLEEPS!).

That day I had an enormous headache, all day, but the day does not

stop! Once arriving home with the kids, I told myself I would go

first thing and take a couple of ibuprofen. Then the phone rang,

someone at the door, the baby had a poopie diaper, the kids were

hungry, showers, baths, and almost bedtime...no ibuprofen. Finally,

I told myself to stop now and go get myself something for this darn

headache and on my way to so, I realized it was 30 minutes past the

time I usually give my older son his night time meds, clonodine &

zyprexa. So I went and got a glass of water and got his meds and

without even thinking about it...TOOK THEM MYSELF! I stopped, like

in a cold stare and thought... " What the heck did I just do...that's

not ibuprofen!!? " I started to panic, my husband was at work & would

be there until 12am, I had never taken these meds before and even

tylenol with codene makes me sleep for two days I'm so sensitive. I

called my husband and asked what I should do and he was laughing so

hard he could't even speak! I hung up and decided that if I was

going to stay awake and alert to care for the chiidren I better

start gagging myself to throw them up. So there I am with my finger

down my throat over the toilet getting as much of the medicine out

of me. I was ok, still had a headache and when my husband came home

we laughed for hours...another stupid human trick performed by yours

truly!

Can't believe I told this, but I think we all are entitled to at

least one of these moments. Unfortunately I have MANY of them...oh

well! lol!
