Kind of makes sense to me. We know pwc tend to have Vit. B problems. Could explain why some people react so adversely, while generally healthy people seem to not be affected whatsoever by mino. pennyBarb Peck <egroups1bp@...> wrote: I know this isn't the topic du-jour- but commenst welcome. My RA friend has taken a ton of Mino in the past, with good results (except for a mucosal advers reaction of inflammed and sloughing mucosal skin of the mucus menbranes)- solved

The skin of ther gums will actually slough off (like when burned)- and this time she has blood in her urine- so were talkin mucosal menbranes not just in her mouth...What's happening? I have read about Mino depleting Vit B (and you have to take C with it) - so is this SEVERE vit B deficiency - or just a drug adverse reaction????????????????BarbPS- yes- I know- this is a question someone would ask and I'd usually pipe in with an answer... I have my thoughts on it.

That's what the bugs do, there toxins, when stimulated by

antimicrobials are causing this sloughing. This is often mistaken as

allergic reaction. Low levels of minocycline reaching bugs actually

influence growth, as observed in the antibiotic disc tests. The bugs

that are right at the edge of the antibiotic clear zone are twice as

dense in growth, so some killing and stimulation is occuring in

therapeutic situations.

So in the culture plate, the bug growth that is ringing the antibiotic disc clearance zone is actually twice as heavy as normal growth? That's VERY interesting. And a good rationale for not undermedicating if the result is stimulation of the organisms growth (as a defense mechanism). I guess the question is, how long can the organisms keep up the increased replication? Don't they eventually wear down or is there a continuous new supply at the ready? I suppose the fact that we can't maintain consistent drug levels in the body is a big factor. Hence mega dosing to maintain the highest possible drug penetration until the bugs are wiped out. penny dumbaussie2000 <dumbaussie2000@...> wrote: BarbThat's what the bugs do, there toxins, when stimulated by antimicrobials are causing this sloughing. Each set of circumstances is different-different drugs do different

things to these organisms. As you've noticed a one size fits all

approach doesn't work.An aggresive approach is possably a better

approach as frequently early in the disease process people feel

completely normal on a simple treatment plan only for it to return

due to not enough dosing and the duration not adequate.
