have nothing to add to your comments , we have not used bh4, but interesting that they mention both ribavarin and amantadine.

I have been looking into both of those, as are said to be effective on bornavirus, which I believe plays a big role in many cases of autism (at least in ds).

also interesting that no one seems to have heard or tried ribavarin, even not used on NIDS protocol, which uses many types of rx antivirals.... Please anyone post if you know more, or know of any naturals that may be effective.

The first story is old - but another kid recently survived rabies

without the vaccine too. The " Milwaukee " protocol is medically induced

coma, anti virals and BH4. I thought I saw IVIG in one of the

articles, but I'm skimming them in haste and can't find it again.

" In addition to inducing the coma, doctors also gave her the

antivirals ribavarin and amantadine. They tapered off the anesthetics

after about a week, when tests showed that Giese's immune system was

battling the virus. For about six months after awakening from the

coma, physicians also gave her a compound called tetrahydrobiopterin

that is chemically similar to the B-complex vitamin folic acid, which

may have improved her speech and ability to eat, Willoughby says.

He notes that physicians gave her the supplement after tests showed

that she had a deficiency of the compound, which is known to boost

production of serotonin and dopamine neurotransmitters needed to

perform motor, speech and other routine bodily functions. "

Is anyone giving Bh4 (tetrahydrobiopterin)? My son was on it for a

year or so, then I weaned him off it (it's so expensive!) and now he's

back on it again for MCS.

Interesting that the SCIAM says it's for motor and speech. I wasn't

giving it with that specific intention, but because he was low and

couldn't tolerate any of the pre-cursors/supports. So I just had to

supplement him with it directly. It's Schricks Labs brand - ordered by

my son's doctor and has to be kept frozen. It's a pain, especially

when you need to travel. But something to consider if you are looking

for motor and speech gains though.

During the time my son was on it, he generally improved in gross motor

organization and planning. He never had fine motor, so that was not a

factor. His speech also became more fluid and expressive during that

time.

I don't want to attribute improvements directly to it - but they did

happen within the same 18 month time frame. With a zillion other

things too. So it's just a possible connection.
