Guest guest
Here we are tidying the train track http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVRbgraHiOc We are working on co-regulation. Co-regulated encounters provide participants with certain degrees of freedom, but also are mutually bound by a common " framework. " Co-regulation is the cornerstone of all human communication. You will see there is not lots of talking - I am using 'broadband' communication wherever possible - which is basically non-verbal communication: prosody, facial expression and gesture. Many of Philip's glances towards me (referencing) are him 'checking in' to see what I made of his last action and what I am going to do next - to make sure we are on track and co-ordinated in our interaction (within our 'framework'). Here is my commentary that I sent to our RDI Consultant, for anyone who's interested: 0.04 A peice drops off P's track. He glances to me and says 'it missed!' I do a 'phew!' 0.07 He glances to me, I nod, we throw. I do thumbs up, he glances again. 0.13 I pick up another peice and nod, we throw. I do thumbs up and say 'woah' 0.17 P glances to me and says 'lets see if we can get a turkey' I say 'oooh' 0.29 He finds a peice and glances. I nod, we throw, he glances and smiles and says 'yeah!' We do a high 10 and I say 'woah' 0.44 P goes to find me a similar peice to his block. He jokes that he has found another peice and then tells me it is the same one. 1.00 We throw and then do lots of throws in quick succession. P does lots of glancing, smiling and says 'more turkeys!' 1.44 P picks up a similar peice to mine and glances. I nod and we throw. 1.51 P has a peice with another joined. I copy. 1.58 P glances, I nod, we throw. I do thumbs up. We do some more peices. 2.26 P has a train and a peice of cargo. He has an idea and sticks the cargo to the train and glances. I take the peice off and get ready to throw. P takes the peice off me, places it on the train, glances and asks 'can we do that?' I look as if I'm thinking and then place his fingers on the end so I can hold the other end and we can do it together. We drop it in the box and I do thumbs up. 2.50 P throws a track peice in the train box. I feign surprise. P says 'whoops' and rectifies it. We finish and I say 'nice one!' End of commentary. Isn't he fantastic!! Zoe
