That is great news! Did your neurologist share his/her personal opinion on this disorder? I think this is definitely in the neurology field of study.

Wonderful news!!!

He is completely stumped as to what might be causing it. He said the

symptoms have never been reported by any other patients of his, but

he is taking it seriously and at least was willing to send the

letter. I'm happy for that at least. For now, he said all he can do

is treat the symptoms of stress that come along with the noise

triggers by keeping me on Lexapro 5 mg daily and Clonazapam (10 mg)

as needed. But so far, even these hasn't really helped much.

Yesterday I was going through the roof because a co-worker was

digging into a plastic bag of chips or something over and over again.

I still can't take it. I HAVE to put my headphones on immediately

with the volume turned up full blast. Obviously the meds have had no

effect so far. I think the only effective treatment for this

disorder is to either 1) go deaf or 2) stop whatever miswiring is

occuring in the brain that makes it sound so awful in the first place.

I have to strongly suggest that since you are being perscribed

psychiatric medication that you have a psychiatrist manage your case

now. Psychiatrists specialize in psychiatric medications... it's what

they do all day everyday and you would best be served there.

You have to give the lexapro time to get into your system and start

to work, it can take weeks to months. If the meds are not helping you

tell your doctor that, maybe the dosage is not right, etc... there

are a thousand little tweeks that the doctors can make. You must

report closely and often with them.

Good luck, meds changes are the worst!

that's great news he's willing to write the letter and also

that he's trying things to help you. That's all we can do at this

point is try anything and everything! Meds don't work for me

either. However, I'm wondering if anyone has tried higher doses of

meds because OCD requires higher levels... anyone???
