Guest guest
I'm wondering if anyone here might have any thoughts on this as I've not been able to find much on-line. Within moments of my doc drawing blood yesterday morning (from the back of my hand) the puncture site began to itch. And it has itched nonstop since then. Plus, the puncture site has turned very red and is slowly expanding in size while at the same time a red ring about the size of a quarter has formed that circles around to include another puncture site where I had blood drawn earlier in the week. On that side of the circle (closer to my wrist) the red tapers to a point heading up my arm. It basically looks like a small ice cream cone on the back of my hand with the scoop of ice cream dipped in red sprinkles, heavy on the sprinkles near yesterdays prick :-). I had zero problems with the draw done at Labcorp. I've also started experiencing momentary episodes of itchiness on random areas of my body and I have not felt well at all today while yesterday I was feeling really good. It seems like I'm having an allergic reaction, doesn't it? I've read that sometimes you can develop a mild infection after having blood drawn. Has anyone else experienced anything like this, or know anything? And should I continue to ignore this nagging feeling that all is not right here? If the red would just stop spreading, I'd feel a lot better about it. But I can't help but worry that I've been infected with something new. thanks guys, penny

It would indicate an infection in your lymphs. You need antibiotics.Best,
Guest guest
Yeah, just what I was worried about. I think the Cipro and penicillin I'm on took care of it. Actually. It cleared up yesterday and the redness was gone. I'm relieved. penny kgg12003 <kgenest@...> wrote: Penny wrote: On that side of the circle (closer to my wrist) the red tapers to a point heading up my arm.If this is the start of a red streak up your arm, you need to get to the doc ASAP. Guest guest
Penny: What has come of this? Did they wipe the site with alcohol before they drew blood? My first thought is that something got in thru the break in the skin..OR it could be you have a case of contact dermatitis.. Like if you drag your fingernail across your skin- it raises, gets red and itches. Probably should call the Doc- Barb > > I'm wondering if anyone here might have any thoughts on this as I've not been able to find much on-line. > > Within moments of my doc drawing blood yesterday morning (from the back of my hand) the puncture site began to itch.
