Guest guest
Penny, My wife took Actos as part of that protocol and had a pretty severe immune activation response which just kept getting worse until she quit. Is that similar to what you experienced? Her doctor hadn't ever seen that response before and he uses Shoemaker's protocol quite a lot. The same doctor really thinks the Avandia thing is overblown (he's my doctor also and wants me on the stuff). He doesn't see a risk / benefit problem unless you actually have heart disease or it runs strong in your immediate family. And this is a guy who is pretty conservative about such judgments. I'm still not taking it however ;-) --Bob Penny Houle wrote: I wonder what Shoemaker's going to do with this new development, since he prescribes Actos as part of his protocol? I was surprised and alarmed that Actos is included in this warning since all I've heard mentioned on the news is Avandia. I took Actos for only a few days and had a really severe reaction. At the time, I remember saying it felt like I was dying. I stopped taking it immediately once I realized it was the Actos that was sending me downhill so fast. It literally took me several weeks to recover from it. penny The Associated Press Published: August 14, 2007 WASHINGTON: The diabetes drugs Avandia and Actos will be labeled with severe warnings about a risk of heart failure to some patients, U.S. health officials said Tuesday. http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/08/14/america/NA-MED-US-Diabetes-Heart-Failure.php
Guest guest
Bob and Penny, I tried Shoemaker's diet and took Actos. I got elevated liver enzymes while on Actos. a > > Penny, > > My wife took Actos as part of that protocol and had a pretty severe > immune activation response which just kept getting worse until she > quit. Guest guest
I didn't know what was happening. Just that I started feeling severely weak and disoriented. Each day got worse, until I realized that it must be the Actos. I stopped taking it but it literally took me at least a couple of weeks to get all the way back to where I started. pennyBob Grommes <bob@...> wrote: Penny,My wife took Actos as part of that protocol and had a pretty severe immune activation response which just kept getting worse until she quit.
