Guest guest
Marcia: Are you looking for antibiotic, natural, or a mixture for a treatment choice? How close is close? Love and prayers, Heidi N my son is 6 non-verbal autism. i got lyme disease when he was 8 months and i was nursing him. he turned autistic soon after that and it took me another 18 months to realize he had lyme. i have mostly worked with dr. amy yasko and houston homeopathy but i know feel i need to work much harder on the lyme. he is a gut kid, lots of issues there but he is much better than he has been. very foggy and low attention and non-verbal. i live in nj and willing to go to best doctor but would prefer someone close or just learn on my own. i believe in recovery very much but i think i am not attacking the lyme and other pathogens enough. thanks for any advice. marciaOne site keeps you connected to all your email: AOL Mail, Gmail, and Yahoo Mail. Guest guest
hi heidi, close would be nice but i will go just about anywhere. 3 yrs ago went to see dr.klinghardt but i don't think he protocal was refined as it is now. he said his autism is lyme but go to yasko to get help. i have been doing yasko for 3 yrs now. prior to dr. k i did go see dr. charles jones in ct but only did antibiotics for a short while. got really scared about long term. is there a concensus about using antibiotics? my son has a weak gut and i worry about killing all the good bugs but i want his autism to go away and for speech to come! i just got an appt with dr. usman's assistant in june 09, do you know if she is a good lyme/autism dr? i have been trying to help my son mostly by chatroom advice and i just got onto this one and i think i really need to focus on lyme and maybe try stronger stuff than vitamins and homeopathy (did houston homeopathy for 18 months as well). thanks for any advice on doctors to see or how to attack this on my own. and also any views on antibiotics. yasko and homeopathy are not too keen on them but after 3 years, my child is still very severe autism. thanks! marcia > > Marcia: > > Are you looking for antibiotic, natural, or a mixture for a treatment > choice? Guest guest
Dr. U is quite famous, so maybe you will have some success. I think being successful is a lot of things brought together. I think one has to look at thier time, money, beliefs, gut-feeling, and kind of just put together a plan. I did some pondering here on this Internet and decided to go with herbs. I see local doctors here and there, some popular in the autism arena, but its a lot of juggling. I juggle their knowledge with my views on treatment, money, time and etc. I say this to say that I don't think one type of treatment is better for everyone, but rather there are potentially many successful roads to take to recovery, but the road chosen likely needs to be fine-tuned in order for success. Also, we use a combination approach, using some homeopathy, some prescriptions, etc. whatever seems to fit what we are doing, or seems to be needed and effective. I have to say that we mostly use herbs because frankly, I can find tons of information on them, going back many years. But with medicines, I usually get, " we really don't know how this medicine works, but we think it works by effecting such and such " . I find it difficult to use things that no one really knows how it works. And it's not like I am going to find many reports going back years on meds. But, on herbs, the information is usually vast. But, I still feel that other types of treatment modalities have been successful, so it's more like pick a plan that you can believe in, afford and dedicate time to. If it doesn't work, try to fine-tune it to make it work. I think the important thing is to concentrate on digestion, liver function, toxins and pathogens. If one is not progressing after many things, definitely try something else. In the herb arena, there are tons to choose from, so if one doesn't work, you can easily try another. I think that learning as much as possible about whatever you choose to do is really the key. Like the gluten-free, casien- free diet. One might not realize that it may not work if you still consume pesticides, gmos, MSG, etc. I know most of us are limited on time, but somehow we have to find a way to figure out things to get the most success. Basically, I mean there are tons of little things that can effect success. Another example is digestive enzymes. If you don't have good digestion, you may not be able to digest the cod liver oil or herbs to make them work. Thus, there is lots of little things that often can only be learned by asking on forums, or discussing with doctors, or researching websites, etc. I am sure you know about the examples I listed, I was merely trying to say that I feel that the path chosen should be one that fits you in time, money, beliefs, etc. and that as much as I feel that herbs is the best path, many will say they don't agree. It sounds like you have really put some great effort into his recovery, I pray that success will come soon. For my childrens' speech: cod liver oil, MB12, grapefruit seed extract, digestive enzymes and turmeric. I guess these effected them the most when I think of speech. I have one that just stopped all stuttering a few weeks ago. It's a beautiful thing. You can do this; keep at it! Guest guest
Marcia, I was just reading your message and the replies, and then I went to the Lyme-and-Rife group and read the following message that gives some very helpful protocols for neurotoxin relief. Just thought you'd like to read over the suggestions... Blessings, Molly **************************************************************** Posted by: "rowynngilraine@..." Mon Dec 29, 2008 5:31 pm (PST) Hi all, As promised, here is the Dr. Gray mold illness/neurotoxin protocol for people exposed to mold. Dr. Gray doesn't use Actos, like Dr. Shoemaker. I was told that it was because of the side effects to the liver. I have MCS, so liver problems are a big deal for me and I can't take that risk. I'm also going to post the neurotoxin protocol (partial) that Dr. Kane uses for detox, including detox from ammonia. I'm working with both of these and if anyone else out there is taking anything else that is effective, please let me know. I have lyme, mold illness and mcs and my liver/bile is a mess. I also have really bad acid reflux and am scheduled to do invasive surgery for it, unless I can find another solution. All suggestions and any input would be appreciated. Best, Rowynn For Mold Illness - Dr. Gray and B 1) Avoid all exposures (to mold/chemicals) 2) Cholestryramine, 5g in 8oz. of juice/water, hydrated 15-20 minutes and then taken at noon with the noon meal and at bedtime, taken 2 hours away from other meds/supplements. Can take with food, but I take on an empty stomach. 3) 1g of activated charcoal, taken with the CSM 4) 1g of bentonite clay or zeolite clay, taken with the charcoal and CSM 5) Alpha Lipoic Acid, 250mg up to 600mg (if you have mcs) 6) Monolaurin, 1g bid to qid - I"m not taking this 7) Multi-vitamins/ minerals 8) Ketoconazole 2% nasal spray suspension 9) Ketoconazold 2% shampoo (optional) 10) tea tree oil soap for showering/bathing (optional) 11) Grapefruit seed extract 375mcg po tid - can use other antifungals here 12) Daily epson salt soaks/infra-red sauna for detox 13) Triple element air filter - Hepa, zeolite, charcoal (I have Autin Air HM400 - get on ebay cheaper) 14) CoQ10 100-150 mb bid 15) Guaifenesin 200 mg (only if you have chest congestion, cough) 16) Carlsons Fish Oil - 1 tbspn by mouth 2 times day For people with MCS, go and look up Dr. Grace Ziem. She has a whole bunch of protocols posted on the web, both for environmental controls and for supps. If you have MCS, send me a private email and I"ll send you stuff about that - there are just more supplements to take. So, I"m not doing all this - basically, I"m on the binders, the ketoconazole nasal spray, doing the sauna and taking ALA and fish oil/coQ10. I have to rotate antifungals, because of my gut. Basically, you can do one natural antifungal for 4 days and then rotate between several different ones, every 4 days. I use MMS, oil of oregano, garlic, uva ursi, berberine, olive leaf, caprilic acid, tannalbit. If you can handle it, you always have Nystatin/Diflucan - I can't do those. Also, dont' forget to Rife for mold! For deeper neurotoxin detox, get Kane's book, "The Patient's Detox Book." This has the supplements, the liver cleansing, and the diet. The basics are as follows: Phosphatidylcholine calcium/magnesium butyrate (for detox of ammonia) electrolyte concentrate 4:1 ratio balanced EFA oils Evening Primrose Oil Vit C Ground Flax Seed Chlorella Liquid trace minerals Bile Salts Mastica You need to get the book, to really pick and choose what you need for you. The essence of it is to provide enough healthy fats to re-balance the body and to help the liver detox with the Phosphatidylcholine and to get rid of the ammonia with the butyrate. The website is _www.bodybio.com_ (http://www.bodybio.com) . Hope that helps. Best, Rowynn *****************************************************************
