But this is really something. I wonder if there'll be warnings about avoiding the flu? I believe that maternal-gestational rubella is/was a well-established cause of mental retardation. My only source on that is the Washington Post. Everyone in the US (and presumably the West) is vaccinated against rubella now. The popular press articles on these studies I cited by Brown and such, state that there were comparable findings on autism. I haven't tracked those down yet. I also didn't mention the work by this one dude on mice. He found behavioral abnormalities, and response to anti-psychotics, in mice born to mothers he infected with something or other (flu?) during gestation.
