Sorry for the confusion. I define true direct access as the ability to treat

without a referral under all circumstances. For example, Texas allows for a

P.T. to evaluate a patient only. Treatment can be provided to a patient only if

you received a referral for the same condition not more than one year

previously. Obviously a quite restricted direct access. How do physicains

respond to your ability to see the patient without their referral? I assume you

compete for patients to some degree.

Also, please define L & I. Thank you for your input.

Direct Access

For those in true direct access states, how has this benefited your

practice? What about hospital based vs private practice. Equal benefit?

Do 3rd party payors recognize your treatment without a referral as a covered

benefit?
