Guest guest
> Posted by Debbie at http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/mb/danmalcore I think examining 4s as a possible type of OCD is certainly a good idea however I am not convinced that is what it is. Debbie does make some good points. Again, 4s really needs to be studied by an objective group and then different theories ruled out. Here are my reasons I don't think it is OCD. We have almost 800 people posting to this site. The posts are numerically sequenced. Occasionally Dr. does remove a post. Sometimes I get the removed post in the digest before she removes it. All I am proving here is that this forum is not " edited " to reflect one theory or another. With so many members and with so many members who have sought psychological and/or psychiatric treatment, I find it hard to believe that there have been no posts where someone is exclaiming something like " wow I'm practically cured when I stay on my ocd medications " . I'm sure I could easily talk a doctor into prescribing these medications. When people with ocd take their medicine, many find substantial improvement with the medication. Most of us here would be happy to take a couple of pills if it would significantly reduce our symptoms. So lets assume that only the worst of the worst of 4s/ocd sufferers find this web site. Would that not mean that there are lots of " managed " 4s/ocd sufferers out there ? So many that surely we could just google " sound sensitivity and ocd " and find professionals with the experience to manage our condition ? That is why I get so frustrated when people try to group 4s with other psychological conditions. I have searched repeatedly and have not found any evidence of a psychological and/or psychiatric professional that specializes in a sound sensitivity condition like ours. Which means our condition is just as unknown to the psychological/psychiatric community as it is to the audiology community. We really need this condition thoroughly studied as theories are just that ... theories. On the flip side I think it is good to post our theories. Hopefully one day some one will read all of them and consider them.
