Guest guest
Must have been a slow news day: http://www.webmd.com/healthy-aging/news/20100222/hospital-infections-kill-48000-each-year I think Canada addressed this issue fairly successfully a couple of years ago by making changes in hospital sanitation procedures. One thing I wonder about though, is how many people leave the hospital with an infection brewing, who later appear to relapse and die? I've personally known 2 people who left the hospital with a "clean bill of health" but died shortly after arriving home. Another thing most people don't think about is the lack of disease controls in dental offices. You can be sure that the average dental office is nowhere as sterile as an operating room, even though the dentist/oral surgeon is working on bleeding tissue in one of the body's most sensitive locations, It's required now that people with heart problems be treated prophylactically with antibiotics before simple cleanings to prevent further damage or risk. Think of all the people who have major dental work done without any prophylactic protection. You'd think reasonable medical professionals would be asking if people are acquiring heart disease from the dentist's chair to begin with.
