Guest guest
I went to a presentation organized by NDSS with Dr I Cohen yesterday in NYC. It was raining cats and dogs, but still, quite a number of wet parents there, with children of various ages (that were not present). Of course I had my question ready for him - about ghinko biloba and Changing Minds Protocol. For my surprise, he had included a slide about the protocol - problably anticipating people might ask. The slide reads - A word about Changing Minds - Be thoughtful and careful in evaluating the stories and claims made about this and other similar interventios. - A word about the different ways in which biomedical scientists and families evaluate programs such as Changing Minds. (and there was the link for the website) www.changingmindsfoundation.com He didnt project the slide, but the written presentation was distributed to all of us. He started the subject saying that every 10 years there is a new treatment for DS, multivitamin, aminoacids - and he cited Nutrevene-D, but everything was rebutted after research didnt comprove real benifts. On the other hand, he didnt say - dont do it - he said be careful. About the video, he said that the young woman fetured showed clear signs of depression and that of course Prozac would work for her. He mentioned reasearch being made by Dr Mobley at Stanford and Dr Reeves at s Hopkins, that are looking for clues to intervention to improve cognition and memory. Another interesting news is that the Health Care Guidelines are being revised by the Commitee on genetics of the American Academy of Pediatrics, will be all based on evidence and should be released in 2009. He also highly recommended the book Teaching Children with DS about Sex, by Terri Couwenhoven, 2007, Woodbine House. The presentation will be available in video probably nex week, at NDSS site. The first of this Education series, by Dr Reeves, is already at the site. http://ndss.org/index.php?option=com_content & view=article & id=157%3Ahigher-education & catid=57%3Aeducation-series & limitstart=3 Pat Veja quais são os assuntos do momento no Yahoo! + Buscados: Top 10 - Celebridades - Música - Esportes
