Guest guest
Hi Dan, I have had a plethora of dental issues in the last 4 years. I think that my advice can help, as it helped me alot. Purchase 2 items when you go for your cleaning. The first, is Peridex, which is an antimicrobial mouth rinse. Dilute it in 1/2, and rinse twice a day, for at least 30 seconds. It really speeds up the healing process. It will also prevent furthur infection, after a cleaning that intense. It's going to not be that pretty, because you waited way too long to go for the cleaning. As a general rule, every 6 months is the norm. The reason I said to dilute the Peridex, is because it can stain your teeth over time. This was a little trick that my own dentist suggested, and does himself. I would probably perform this ritual for about one month, until the gums really heal. The next item to purchase, is a toothpaste call Fluoridex. There are 2 kinds, one for sensitivity, and one for whitening. The one for sensitivity is the one that you want. Brush with it as normal. However, if you are having alot of pain post-cleaning, you can apply a small amount of the toothpaste with a dry Q-tip to the sensitive gumline. It will greatly decrease the pain, and works better if applied to a dry surface. You can accomplish this by drying your gums with some sterile gauze before application. This stuff saved my life, after I have periodontal scaling done, which is a very aggressive cleaning performed if periodontal pockets = or > 6mm start to form. Both items can be purchased at the dental office, and may total about 50 USD, but well worth it. Take it from one who has been through it. Hope this helps. Good Luck! Guest guest
I do 5000 mg Vit C in a small smoothie of juice and a scoop of protein powder about 1 hour before the procedure. Ask in advance to be able to rinse out 2 times during the procedure with mouthwash, and again at the end, the strongest mouthwash they have, if they have more than one. Best to optimize the thyroid before scheduling the procedure since thyroid has so much to do with immunity.
