Guest guest
, Any idea why my ANA is positive only postprandially, not when I'm fasting? Tim autoantibodies in CFS Posted by: " " usenethod@... hodolog1ca Fri Jan 25, 2008 7:20 pm (PST) Here's a free PDF of a 1997 paper out of Scripps that found low-titer anti-nuclear antibodies (and possibly other autoantibodies) in one half of CFS cases. The titers are a lot lower than the typical autoantibody titers of lupus, etc. http://www.jci.org/articles/view/118990/pdf The abstract of a 2007 Japanese language article (17561698) refers to the work " One group in the USA reported that 'nuclear envelope staining pattern' was found in more than 50% of the patients with CFS. This results, however, have not been confirmed by any other research groups. " ....possibly referring also to this negative autoantibody study: 12165094 . Another positive finding on this topic is 11477286; free text of which is found at http://rheumatology.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/full/40/7/806. _____________________________________________________________ Beauty Product Reviews Read unbiased beauty product reviews and join our product review team! http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL2121/fc/JKFkuJi7GiXksM5cqKmIs50NdFExcNzLQrDt\ 5aBX3ZJ4kj7lIZS3Ki/
Guest guest
No, I don't have much idea... sounds odd, since most antibodies are supposed to have a long half-life (weeks) in the body, I think, whereas I'm guessing by a fast you mean 12 hours to 3 days or so. Perhaps that's not true of every single class and subclass. The classes are immunoglobin (Ig) A, G, E... etc... (that's IgA, IgG, IgE). And there are subclasses like IgG1, IgG2, etc. Or, it's conceivable the fast moves the Ig out of the blood for some reason. (Large proteins can't make it out of the circulation on their own, but Ig are actively transported out of the blood to reach the humor that bathes tissue cells.) And there are other odd possibilities I guess - they all do sound at least a little weird, but so do a great many well known truths of biology. > > , > > Any idea why my ANA is positive only postprandially, not when I'm fasting? > > Tim
