ARe the hypercoagulation issues we see wiht jaw infections /ON

the same as diseminated intravascular coagulation seen in erlichiosis?

Erlichiosis is a tick co-infection,in the ricketsia family

From Merck manual 2006:

erlichiosis hematologic and hepatic abnormalities:

1. leucopenia=is a decrease in the number of white blood cells (leukocytes)

found in the blood, which places individuals at increased risk of infection.

2. thrombocytopenia (not enough platelets that help blood clot ).

3. abnormal liver function, especially elevated levels of transaminases

thrombocytopenia (not enough platelets that help blood clot ).

4. disseminated intravascular coagulation
