Guest guest
Before two years my mother had a surgery in the Right femur due to an old infection that gave no result with antibiotic treatment. There are 2 days that the pain appeared again. I am in doubt because the health system in Albania is not consolidated, the doctor probably has not cleaned the infected place not good. It is possible to be repeated again so close distance of 2 years? What to do? should make another intervention? I'm trying to communicate with even though here in Albania does not have the opportunity for more information. thank you very much for waiting for your response I wish you much health
Guest guest
It is very difficult to treat bone infections even in "sterile" environments. Multiple debridements are not uncommon. I don't know your situation there, but I hope your mother has not only an orthopedic surgeon, but an infectious disease specialist to guide the antibiotic therapy. If her infection does not respond to antibiotic treatment, the organisms causing her infection should be tested for their antibiotic sensitivites (via biopsy) and the proper antibiotic therapy should be determined from that information. Just throwing antibiotics at a bone infection without proper testing of the organisims' antibiotic sensitivities is not the best protocol and can easily lead to continued infection. There isn't a lot of blood flow to the infected area, especially when there is necrotic bone or tissue in the area. I.V. antibiotics may be called for to best get the drugs into the infected area. Testing should be repeated regularly and antibiotics adjusted as necessary based on those test results. I am not a doctor so this information is based on what I have learned from personal experience and various literature I've read. I wish your mother success in eradicating her infection. And I commend your efforts to help her. Guest guest
Thank you very much for the information. I would like the conversation stays together because I do not control many opportunities that I cooperate with.the Doktor is orthopedist, I have not a specialist consult infections. Will I try to find a specialist and will consult with him. The first time that infection appeared 7 years before my mother took an I.V. antibiotic treatment with ceporinex and had a very good effect almost 5 years there was no problem. After 5 years of infection appeared again and this time the doctor suggest Amikasilin I.V. which gave no effect. after 1 month did ciprinol I.V, who gave a small effect. after surgical intervent my mother made which lasted 2 years. currently being treated with zinatt, ampoules who took oral I be weting forward for the efekct to came. > > > From: ghh <fierak2000@...> > Subject: [infections] osteomyletis on the right femur > infections > Date: Tuesday, December 28, 2010, 7:48 AM > > > Â > > > > Before two years my mother had a surgery in the Right femur due to an old infection that gave no result with antibiotic treatment.
