Guest guest
Hi ette, We are using snacks from an East Indian grocery store down in Brampton, they are made from chick pea flour. Also the chick peas tossed in oil and sea salt and baked like you had at our place at christmas. We also try to serve only meat and vegetables for meals and save the carbs for snacks. We have definately noticed an increase in appetite since starting the protocol. increased hunger > Dear Listmates: > > Our almost 4 year old son has been on Valtrex for 3 weeks. Guest guest
We thought he had an okay appetite before but now he is asking for many more snacks throughout the day and still eats well at meal time. Is this common? Oh, boy, yes!! My son was a picky, self-limiting eater (except for sweets and milk products <grin>), but since being on the Valtrex, his appetite seems to have tripled. Not only is he asking for more snacks, he's eating twice as much at meals and is interested in a wider variety of foods. Dr. Goldberg said this would probably happen. When you consider that these children have been sick, of course they will eat better when they feel better. And . . in keeping with Dr. G.'s high protein diet, does anyone have any suggestions for higher protein snacks? If you have a Trader Joe's near you, and your son has no sensitivities to soy, they have some great crunchy soy snacks like " Soytzels " (a soy pretzel), a brand of chips called GenSoy, and others. Also, hummos (a dip made from garbanzo beans and sesame - VERY high-protein) is great with all kind of chips crackers and with veggies. Trader Joe's and Whole Foods Market have many flavors of hummos - tomato-basil is my favorite, plus there's spicy red pepper, roasted eggplant, garlic, and grilled vegetable. Once when I got desperate for a snack idea, I wrapped a few slices of roasted turkey breast around some lettuce and a small amount of vinagrette dressing. My son actually ate it! And asked for another one .
Guest guest
I got some snacks from a West Indian store in Brampton called channa. It's chick peas, oil, and salt. Kind of like your snack, only harder. Is that similar to what you found? Guest guest
We've definitely seen the increased hunger as well. One night ate 13 strips of chicken. That used to be a month's worth for him. He often will have a half-dozen muffins for breakfast so, yes, it's definitely increasing. Guest guest
I have had the kind that you are talking about, the one we got is kind called gaathiya. They are long straw shaped things, made from chick pea flour as opposed to chick peas, I also got another kind that look like rice krispies (very spicy). We got them at No Frills in Brampton. increased hunger > > > > > > > Dear Listmates: > > > > > > Our almost 4 year old son has been on Valtrex for 3 weeks. > > This > > > past week we have really noticed a substantial increase in > > appetite. Guest guest
Well you probably know my story, my doc started me on 400 cypionate every 2 weeks, I think maybe that's it. I have hashimotos and take synthroid and my heart rate has increased to mid 80's. My tsh was 3.7 on my last blood test a week ago so it doesnt seem to be going hyper. > > > > I've been very hungry since starting trt, what causes it? Nothing seems to satisfy me, I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich before followed my some multigrain crackers followed immediately by a huge bowl of fiber one cereal. wtf? > > >
Guest guest
You are eating the wrong things... when I started TRT I had the same problem... I was eating like a freight train. It turned out that my body needed protein to rebuild the muscle that was wasted. When I started eating lean red meats, yellowfin tuna steaks, and other quality fish I started to feel much better and eat less. All the fiber did was cause me to want to eat more and poop a lot. I gained fat not muscle. When I added lean protein I started to naturally bulk up... just watch your fat content and eat quality not quantity. Grass fed beef is leaner and it gives better results. I was also advised to eat beef treated without artificial growth hormones. I know it's more expensive, but I eat less when I buy the better meat from whole foods. I have learned what satisfied my body and the results have been incredible for me. Remember with anything your mileage may vary... it worked with me maybe not for you. I did drop a crapload of weight when I started eating more green veggies and lean meat. Crackers in any form are carbs... try to start counting your carbs and eating high protein, low carb, green veg. Eliminate bread from your meals as much as possible. No refined starches, no pasta. I've even went on a gluten free diet. Increased Hunger I've been very hungry since starting trt, what causes it? Nothing seems to satisfy me, I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich before followed my some multigrain crackers followed immediately by a huge bowl of fiber one cereal. wtf?
