Guest guest
Sorry Stacie, I forgot the important part of the story. Bonnie McBeth passed , YEP. No problems, they said. That is why we kept searching and searching, because as a veteran mother, I knew this was not how he was suppose to act and behave. After getting evaluated and diagnosed properly, I then composed a long letter to my districts superintendant and requested reimbursement for this testing, since his employees missed it in the first place and lost us precious intervention time. There is much more detail but that is the jist of it. I did get monies back, dont remember how much off hand. But when you are dealing with the school,,,,, put everything in writing and do your research. Not just here, but anywhere parents also post about getting services for their children.... I spent many hours making phone calls and searching the web, even wrote to Illinois to get a packet about laws for education and the rights we have. again, every situation is unique, but, the school district is required to help get your child properly evalutated by qualified persons. Not every Speech Therapist and OT with the disricts have the qualifications to diagnose spectrum disorders. You have the right to ask for an outside independant evaluation for your child if the circumstances warrant it.... Keep searching and learning.. Will post stuff if I think it would help you here in Illinois. Mother of 6 (8) Aspergers Grandmother to one.....
Guest guest
Hi ! So, you think that I might be able to get the school district to reimburse some of this because I had to take to Little Friends because the school district did not find what I suspected, if of course they do find that? So, if that is what you are saying, then after this is all done and we do have our meeting about what they found and get the diagnosis, I can contact you since you know more then I do about what to do next. Is that ok? Stacie Sorry Stacie, I forgot the important part of the story. Bonnie McBeth passed , YEP. No problems, they said.
