We definitely have a problem at times when there appears to be no

witnesses. Many times a teachers aide or a therapist has seen similar

actions against your child done by this teacher and principal..I would

think there's a 'hidden advocate' there somewhere..but with these

ISD's over the past dozen years I have found they seem to just not

care if they are being investigated.

The 'Good ol Boy' tactics definitely apply, but wont work on all.

If I was in that position besides uprooting my home, I would start

with an " ADA 504a Title II Complaint Form " - do a google on that and

it will pull right up. This is a non invasive way of making the

complaint..as you're not 'investigating' the school yourself,

but you are making a complaint with the US Dept. of Justice - Civiv

Rights Division. So, a majority take a long time and not much

happens. but they will give some valuable advice as to where the ISD

may have violated the childs civil rights - This may be helpful to

your attorney.. on rare instances they do investigate. They have

taken some pretty brutal action in the past but also have turned many

parents down... so you never know...if you want to go after them try

that. Next time he comes home saying something pu it in writing that

this shouldn't be done.. . sometimes you'll get some naive responses

and those letters can be valuable to a Civil Rights Attorney.. in your

state who knows what actions are going to be filed..

hopefully we take care of a bunch of these problems with:

http://www.change. org/ideas/ view/accept_ and_sign_ the_autism_

reform_act_ of_2009 Which is more of a complete Spec Ed Reform as it

will address issues that face all kids in spec. ed.
