Guest guest
Elen, My son's OT recently started him with a listening program called Vital Sounds. My husband imported the audio CD to iTunes and transferred the sound tracks to an iPod Shuffle (see: http://www.amazon.com/Apple-iPod-shuffle-Bright-Generation/dp/B001FA1NT6), which in turn simply clips onto the headphones. The wire is wrapped around in a coil and attached using a rubber band, thus avoiding any dangling wires. My son can move around the house and do whatever he likes, wearing the headphones. Here is a picture of the headphones with iPod Shuffle: http://slett.net/public/photos/headphones-with-ipod.jpg There are two buttons at the bottom of the iPod Shuffle: on/off, and one to select sequential play or shuffle mode. Use shuffle mode to avoid hearing the same few songs over and over, and instead be able to listen to all the tracks over time. Guest guest
Hi all, We did 10 day AIT program with a practicioner- it was great for us. But I understand it is importaant for listening therapies (all listening therapies) to be delivered from the audio filter to the brain- that is, recording/modifying diminishes effectiveness and precision. I learned this from an audiologist who was not his AIT provider- As sound frequencies have precise shape and amplitude, these are affected by recording and then importing and then converting file formats (like mp3 for iPod). Although I am sure there are benefits, I was told they are less. I have heard from other moms that they were happy with the home cd programs. The audiologist said she wouldn't recommend any home program that doesn't also have the audio filter machine for home use. Carolyn
