Guest guest
I found this explanation as to how the Air Sponge works: http://www.inspiredliving.com/health-wellness-center/index1.html As an ex-MCS sufferer and someone who still needs to be careful about chemical exposure I can say that my own experience is that using the Air Sponge far outweighs any possible negative consequences. Anyone who can't use the Air Sponge would be passing out in the room from the fumes anyway. I would suggest gifting the school or the principle the book Tired or Toxic by Dr. Sherry . She makes it very clear with proof that chemical sensitivity exists and how it happens. This has nothing to do with asthma! What a silly concept. These people at the school are sadly misinformed but then so is most of the rest of the world. I can't say for sure about the perfume/teacher issue as all people have rights, not just the ones perfume wearer. Obviously the right to fresh air should come first but sadly isn't always so. The teachers should respond positively to the book since it's indisputable (scientific enough to please these types) and also explains how a combination of situations may need to occur in order for MCS to start. Some people may get leukemia while others only get a runny nose. It will typically affect the brain though in just about everyone which is of course the last thing anyone at the school should want to see happen. I know what you mean about Walmart. I hate the place too and Air Sponge is about the only reason I go there. It's also the cheapest place to buy it. Our local hardware store sometimes has it but that place reeks too. I can imagine these extremes if THEY were having to foot the bill, but if it's something YOU are paying for and will benefit all of the children... I understand your frustration! Well, I'm certainly not the favourite parent at my kids school right now either ;-) I think they want me and all of my " extreme " ideas to go away... > > So I was looking at the ingredients of the Air Sponge -- (I know the kids won't be wearing the sponge or eating it, but I think inhaling something is similar to ingesting it...) > > - CDA 19 Alcohol > - Charcoal > - Propylene Glycol > - DB 45 Calfax > - Sodium Sterate > - Water > > I'm totally not trying to crap on anybody's ideas :-) Just wanting to make sure if I put this in my daughter's sensory room I won't be adding to the toxin issue. > > Is there anything that will *inexpensively* give me an air quality reading to let me know if the Air Sponge or any other air filtering device is working effectively to eliminate toxins?? I'm particularly concerned about measuring levels of PCVs from the vinyl floor mats. > > Thanks! > Kim >
