Guest guest
Hiya, any bostonians around? I was wondering what sources are available there. I just called some farms in southern NH on behalf of my mom who is getting interested along with me in pastured meat and diary, and they said they had a surpluss of raw milk from pastured (hay and grains in the winter, but its a bionymanic farm) jersey cows. It doesn't get much better than that! I think the place is about an hour and half to two hours away. Anyways, does anyone know of anything closer, and if there isn't anything closer would anyone be interested in setting up a 'milk pool'? Take care,
Guest guest
I'm in the Boston area (Somerville) and have been looking for ways to get raw milk. I looked on realmilk.com and found this info: Pleasant View Farm, Dudley Mass. (probably not any closer than the NH farms) (508) 943-3204 Ugelow @... site said she was trying to start a cow-share program in Lincoln Also, there's a local chapter of WAPF, though I haven't contacted them yet: Boston -- Louise (617) 969-5041 Wayland -- Matsas (508) 653-1349, DJMAT@... I'd be interested in the " milk pool " idea. Where in NH are the farms? sheri << Date: Sun, 27 Jan 2002 20:30:29 -0000 From: " justinbond " <justin_bond@...> Subject: Boston and raw milk? Guest guest
, I'm in MA, 80 miles west of Boston just below the VT, NH borders. Have been looking for raw Jersey or Guernsey milk to no avail here and into VT. We get 1/2 beef per year from a farming friend at a good price. Is pasture, hay and silage fed. Am very interested in raw milk and butter or the cream to make butter. Just contacted the local Weston Price chapter. There are others here in the area and one in town I know of who might be interested. Know there's a raw milk campaign here but haven't got to asking of their local sources if any. Guest guest
Dudley is right on the CT border. I'm more comfortable travelling north if the NH location is closer to northwestern MA. The cow share program sounds like a good idea for people in an immediate area. If we had non acidic soil we could do it. Dairy is time consuming farm life. Before I went to school we had a Guernsey. Remember being less than 4 and churning Lady's butter on the front porch. Wanita you wrote: I'm in the Boston area (Somerville) and have been looking for ways to get raw milk. Guest guest
The NH place is in Wilton, its a biodynamic farm that I found at http://www.biodynamics.com/csa2.html Its a CSA, but they will have extra milk and cheese at least until next winter that they sell. Its the farm run by Lincoln Geiger. Either one sounds fine to me. Its hard to beat pasture fed jersey's. > I'm in the Boston area (Somerville) and have been looking for ways to get raw > milk.
