Guest guest
Hi,I asked my 16 yr asperger or high function autism{undecided opinions} son about hitting things. He has never hit a person except for himself. In his words he said " I punch a hole in the wall to see something bad or worse then bad " I asked him what bad was. He said its like " when something looks worse or really bad " . This is clearly a visual perception of bad. He really did not make mental sense of what bad is or means,he has to make sense of it visually. He had no words to describe bad except by looking at something broken. He is some what confused about the meaning of bad in relation to hitting things until they are broke. My 10yr son with low function autism began hitting people after what his twin describes about her brothers experience as " he never hit kids or anyone back, kids would just keep hitting him. One day he hit back and he kept on hitting them. " He has been hitting now for almost a year, people and things. He only uses the word mad in relation to hitting. He screams, yells at us to get away, stay away or seems like he doesnt know who we are. He really looses awareness of the whole hitting event the who or what and sometimes goes wild in his anger and hits himself. Has anyone ever asked their child about hitting? What is their response? Thanks, Tishanne
